About Custom Micro Torsion Springs

Micro torsion springs provide rotational spring action in small assemblies. Define actual dimensions instead of relying on the word micro or an unscaled image. The mounting shaft, leg contacts and angular references are particularly important to a clear specification. State torque at installed positions, direction of movement and the available axial space so both fit and spring action can be reviewed.

Key Design Characteristics

  • Dimension leg contacts and bends from a common reference.
  • Check shaft clearance and body space through the working movement.
  • Describe the torque-test fixture and the handling of small loose parts.

Choosing Between Related Designs

Choose a micro compression spring when the required action is axial. For rotational action, specify single or paired torsion geometry independently of size; a small body does not establish the number of working elements.

Specification and Inspection Review

Agree the angular datum, leg-loading points and torque measurement method before setting tolerances. Identify any handling or packaging requirement needed to protect small legs and maintain assembly orientation.

Next Steps for Your Spring Design

Once the spring style is selected, confirm how it works in the assembly, which material suits the environment, how it will be manufactured and which dimensions and performance points should be controlled on the drawing.

Product Questions

Micro Torsion Springs FAQ

Can torque be specified as a force only?

Give either torque directly or force together with its contact-arm distance and angular position. A force without that geometry is incomplete.

Can the minimum producible size be read from the image?

No. An unscaled image shows form only. Actual wire, coil and leg dimensions need to be supplied for feasibility review.

RFQ
