About Custom Crest-to-Crest Wave Springs with Shim Ends

Shim-end wave springs add flat end-contact features to a multi-turn wave body. These features provide circumferential contact with adjacent components rather than relying only on individual wave crests. The end interface is therefore part of the selection: specify the contact diameter, seat geometry and usable working height. The added ends must be included in the total axial envelope.

Key Design Characteristics

  • Show the shim-end contact surfaces and mating seats.
  • Include the end features in free and compressed height dimensions.
  • Clarify any locating or attachment requirement separately.

Choosing Between Related Designs

Plain-end crest-to-crest springs have a different contact interface. Choose shim ends when the mating surface requires them, then compare load and travel with the plain-end candidate using the same installation conditions.

Specification and Inspection Review

Define how end contact is inspected and how the spring is seated for force testing. If attachment to a mating part is required, specify that connection and any associated restrictions explicitly.

Next Steps for Your Spring Design

Once the spring style is selected, confirm how it works in the assembly, which material suits the environment, how it will be manufactured and which dimensions and performance points should be controlled on the drawing.

Product Questions

Crest-to-Crest Wave Springs with Shim Ends FAQ

What do shim ends change?

They provide flat circumferential end contact. Their dimensions and thickness must be included in the installation and working-height review.

Are shim-end and plain-end springs interchangeable?

Check the seat contact, total axial envelope and load-height specification first. Similar diameter does not establish equivalence.

RFQ
