About Custom Crest-to-Crest Wave Springs

Crest-to-crest wave springs arrange successive waves in a multi-turn body to provide axial compliance. The design is considered where installed height and available stroke must be balanced within a circular cavity. Select using loads at working heights and the mating bore and shaft, rather than a free-height dimension alone. Space savings depend on the compared designs and are not a universal percentage.

Key Design Characteristics

  • Specify the axial load at each required working height.
  • Check bore and shaft clearance over the compression range.
  • State the desired end contact and the permissible compressed height.

Choosing Between Related Designs

Compare plain ends with shim ends when the contact surface matters. A single-turn wave spring is a separate configuration, while an interlaced arrangement needs a different constituent-spring specification.

Specification and Inspection Review

Agree height measurement and load-test seating conditions. Include restrictions on contact with the bore or shaft and any permissible load change after cycling, so acceptance reflects the installed application.

Radial envelopeOperating bore, shaft diameter and available radial width.
Axial heightsFree height, installed heights and travel limit.
Load targetsAxial load and tolerance at each stated height.
Wave geometryTurns, waves and section dimensions if already defined.
Seating and dutySeat faces, material, temperature and cycle requirement.

Next Steps for Your Spring Design

Once the spring style is selected, confirm how it works in the assembly, which material suits the environment, how it will be manufactured and which dimensions and performance points should be controlled on the drawing.

Product Questions

Crest-to-Crest Wave Springs FAQ

Is free height sufficient to select the spring?

No. Provide working height and required axial load, together with the bore and shaft dimensions.

Will every wave spring reduce installed height by the same amount?

No. Compare the specific load, travel and available envelope of the candidate designs. A general product type does not establish a fixed saving.

RFQ

Send the Working Requirement

A drawing is ideal. If you do not have one yet, provide the dimensions, load or torque, travel, environment and expected quantity that matter in the assembly.
