Where this spring style fits
Review best-fit uses, assembly constraints and situations where another spring style may be a better choice.
View application guidance →Compression Springs
Square-section compression springs defined by material side dimension, coil geometry, end form and forces at installed heights.
Square-wire compression springs use material with a square cross-section. The finished coil may still have a circular body. Selection requires the section size, winding orientation, coil dimensions and working load to be considered together. Equal material area does not establish the same stiffness as a round-wire spring, and a painted appearance does not by itself identify a standard duty class.
Square-wire and rectangular-wire designs are related non-round-section options. Distinguish them by section dimensions and compare actual load-height performance. A standards-based die spring requires the relevant specification to be identified separately.
For inspection, agree the section, body and end measurements and the load-test fixture. State any required standard, permanent-set limit or cycle test explicitly in the project specification.
Product Specification
Use these product-specific inputs to describe your requirement. Final dimensions, material and performance are confirmed against the drawing and operating conditions.
| Specification item | What to define |
|---|---|
| Section geometry | Side dimensions, corner radii and size tolerance. |
| Coil dimensions | Body outside diameter, inside clearance and active coils. |
| Installed movement | Free height, working-height range and minimum compressed height. |
| Force requirements | Loads and tolerances at the specified heights. |
| Seating and duty | End form, guidance, material and repeated-use conditions. |
Next Design Decisions
Once the spring style is selected, confirm how it works in the assembly, which material suits the environment, how it will be manufactured and which dimensions and performance points should be controlled on the drawing.

Product Questions
Only when the product is supplied under a clearly identified system or standard. Specify the working load and height directly for a custom spring.
Not automatically. The cross-section changes the spring calculation and available clearance; compare load, travel and seating before substitution.
RFQ
A drawing is ideal. If you do not have one yet, provide the dimensions, load or torque, travel, environment and expected quantity that matter in the assembly.
