About Custom Micro Compression Springs

Micro compression springs perform the same axial spring function as larger coils, but their specification must describe the small assembly and its test conditions clearly. A photograph without scale cannot establish a minimum producible size. Begin with the spring envelope, the available travel and the load needed at installed positions; then identify the dimensional and handling features that matter to the mating parts.

Key Design Characteristics

  • Give actual dimensions rather than relying on the label micro.
  • Specify the load at working height, including the fixture or seating arrangement.
  • Identify handling, separation and packaging needs for small loose parts.

Choosing Between Related Designs

This page addresses size and installation constraints. Choose a conical, barrel or straight-body design separately according to the mating geometry. A small outer diameter alone does not identify the required force or body shape.

Specification and Inspection Review

Define dimensional and force measurement methods before setting acceptance tolerances. Note any restrictions on handling, loose-part entanglement or surface contamination that the assembly process must control.

Load acceptanceForce and tolerance at each stated height.
End formSeat contact, end-coil geometry and any grinding requirement.
Environment and handlingMaterial, temperature, cleanliness and packaging requirements.

Next Design Decisions

Next Steps for Your Spring Design

Once the spring style is selected, confirm how it works in the assembly, which material suits the environment, how it will be manufactured and which dimensions and performance points should be controlled on the drawing.

Product Questions

Micro Compression Springs FAQ

What information defines a micro spring?

Provide wire diameter, body diameter, free height and load at the installed heights. The term micro by itself is not a dimensional specification.

Can a photograph be used to specify the size?

Use a drawing or measured dimensions. A photograph may help explain the arrangement, but perspective and lack of scale prevent reliable sizing from the image alone.

RFQ

Send the Working Requirement

A drawing is ideal. If you do not have one yet, provide the dimensions, load or torque, travel, environment and expected quantity that matter in the assembly.
